- PowerPivot® for SharePoint requires SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. To use PowerPivot for Excel, the user must download the add-in for Excel 2010 and have SharePoint Server Standard and Enterprise CALs

STANDARD and ENTERPRISE CALS
Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 offers different levels of functionality, and there are CALs which correspond to this.
The core functionality (depicted by the blue shading) is linked to a Standard CAL depicted by the blue license) assigned to a user or device.
If the extended functionality (depicted by the red shading) is
utilised, then the purchase of an Enterprise CAL is required (depicted by the red license) in addition to the Standard CAL.
Note that it is hard to be compliant with users with a mixture of Standard and Enterprise CALs on the same server farm. |

SHAREPOINT SERVER FOR INTERNET SITES
Either a Standard or Enterprise edition license is required for each external facing server and no CALs are required for the external users.
Note that this license is for external users only. Internal users can use this license if all content is accessible to external users. If the server has items for internal use only, CALs and SharePoint Server licenses are required as above. |
