LICENSING MICROSOFT OFFICE
The Microsoft Office desktop products (including, for example, Microsoft® Visio®) are licensed per device.
Note that Office 2010 editions consist of more than one product offered under a single license and the software may not be separated for use on more than one computer. |

OFFICE 2010 FPP USAGE RIGHTS
- Full version license only; no upgrade licenses available
- No downgrade rights
- Home and Student edition can be installed on up to 3 non-commercial machines
- Home and Business, and Professional editions can be installed on the licensed device plus 1 portable device for use by the single primary user of the licensed device

SOFTWARE ASSURANCE UPGRADE RIGHTS
- Customers with SA for Office 2007 Enterprise, Small Business or Professional Plus have rights to Office Professional Plus 2010
- Customers with SA for Office Standard 2007 have rights to Office Standard 2010

VOLUME ACTIVATION
New to Office 2010, this works in the same way as activation for Windows with a choice of two methods:
- KMS (Key Management Services)
- MAK (Multiple Activation Key)

VOLUME LICENSING DOWNGRADE RIGHTS
Software Assurance customers who licensed Office Enterprise 2007 may continue to use Office Enterprise 2007, and Software Assurance customers who licensed Office Small Business Edition 2007 may continue to use Office Small Business Edition 2007.

WEB APPS
An Office 2010 license allows the user of the primary device to use the Web Apps remotely from any device.
Free, ad-supported Web Apps are available for customers storing documents on SkyDrive. |

OEM PRE-INSTALLATION KIT (OPK)
System Builders can download this for Office 2010 allowing them to preload onto a new PC a single image containing Office 2010 Starter, Home and Student, Home and Business, and Professional.
PRODUCT KEY CARD (PKC)
- The end customer needs to purchase a PKC to unlock the required edition
- No media is provided; if the customer requires media they can purchase FPP and use the license key to unlock the image
- Office pre-installed on a machine cannot be transferred, but if the end customer chooses to unlock the image with FPP then they get FPP usage rights
